We
are all wards of PEN. Even though we don't turn up at every monthly meeting
we take its care and its guardianship for granted: we know that it is
vigilant on our behalf.
Lady Gregory was the first Irish president and over the years she has been followed by a succession of unsung presidents who have worked selflessly to keep the organisation vibrant and attentive to the issues that impinge on our working lives. We owe these people a great deal.
