We are all saddened by the sudden death of John McGahern on March 30th.
Author of The Barracks, The Dark, The Leavetaking, The Pornographer, Amongst Women and That They May Face the Rising Sun, his most recent book, Memoir, was published last year to great acclaim. In 2003, McGahern was awarded the Irish PEN / A T Cross award for Literature.
Our sympathies go to his wife, Madeline, and to his family.

"The Sheep's Head", a short story by associate member Sinead Boland was shortlisted in the Fish Short story competition last year and will be broadcast on Fiction 15 RTE1 on April 23rd. The story will also be published in the May issue of Ireland's Own.
